Delhi University's placement drive begins,many companies includes expected to show up


The placement process in Delhi University has kick-started with more than 40 companies expected to show up for hiring students from undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses. The registrations for the university's central placement cell (CPC) have begun recently.

According to CPC officials, the first round of placement drive for which many companies have already contacted the university, is expected to start in November first week. "Every year the number of companies coming to hire DU students increases. This year we are expecting more than 40 companies as the economy is in a stable condition. Last year we had around 35 companies participating in our drive," an official said.

Companies from sectors like Information Technology, Banking, Insurance, Marketing, Hospitality industry and Call Centers are expected to hire students in a huge number this year. "Companies like HCL Technologies, Genpact and Wipro come regularly. This year also we expect them to come. A lot of call centers also come as they need students with good communication skills," the official said.

Students can register themselves on the University's central placement cell (CPC) by creating a login and password. General category students have to pay a registration amount of Rs.100 while students from first-year and second-year can register for internship opportunities without paying any registration fees.

While information about upcoming companies and events are regularly updated on the university website, students will also be kept updated by emails and text messages from university officials.

"Students should check the university website regularly to get updates about companies coming for hiring. We will also update the schedule for seminars and workshops," he said. The CPC was introduced for students from various streams in the varsity.
